Navadvipa, literally means nine (nava) islands (dvip), is a town consisting of nine islands looking like an eight-petaled lotus flower. The Navadvipa town has a circumference of thirty miles. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is revered by the Hindu devotees. The town is ideally located at a picturesque place at the convergence of the Bhagirathi and Jalangi Rivers. ISKON consider this area as a holy place. The region witnesses many activities undertaken by ISKON. Navadvipa is also popular as Audarya Dhama. Audarya means generosity and magnanimity. The most impressive religious and tourist attraction in Navadvipa is the Shonar Gauranga, the temple dedicated to Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu enshrining a golden statue of Sri Chaitanya. The center location of the Navadvipa islands is known as Yogapitha. It is the holy place where Lord Chaitanya took birth in the Earth.
